Voice over IP is an upcoming technology that is generally perceived
as expensive and immature. Nevertheless solutions on the Linux platform
exist and can be used today as a replacement for a traditional telephone
switch.
This talk will discuss many aspects of IP telephony, including:
- overview of the standards (H323, SIP)
- integration with ISDN
- architectures and functions
- how to roll your own
The talk will be split in two parts. A more generalistic overview of
the different components and concepts, and a more practical part on the
Linux implementation.
